Dad had a week to handle all the family's affairs. Before our removal to the concentration camp, he and my brothers put the two cars up on blocks and removed the tires. He sold all his nursery plants, including many dwarf trees, to Walter Knott of Knott's Berry Farm, for two hundred dollars-- with a contract that he could buy them back at the same price.
